Mike Morgan is a 1978 graduate of Valley High School in Las Vegas where he lettered in baseball and football. He had a 7-1 record during his senior year, getting the attention of Charlie Finley and the Oakland A's. He joined the team as their #1 selection in the June draft and immediately was pitching in the major leagues, just a week after his high school graduation.
Morgan has been a part of history since his first start, going straight to the majors after the A's drafted him in the first round. Morgan has played for more teams than any other athlete in any of the major professional sports. Morgan has become one of only 25 players to perform in four decades.
Morgan is the kind of person others go out of their way to praise. He has tried to remain roughly the same person throughout his career, never forgetting his roots.
Finally, after his share of bad teams Morgan landed with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2000. After 575 major appearances, Morgan had his World Series debut in game #1 of the 2002 Fall Classic against the Yankees working a perfect eight innings in Arizona's 9-1 triumph. He was the oldest hurler to work in the Fall Classic since Joe Niekro.
During his career, Morgan pitched for 12 teams, amassing 141 wins and 1.402 strikeouts.
Morgan currently resides in Ogden, Utah.
