Steve Carp has lived in Las Vegas since 1988 and has covered virtually every sport in Southern Nevada over the last 30 years, from preps to the pros.
Carp currently serves as senior editor of Gaming Today, the longtime Las Vegas-based publication which has been around for more than four decades catering to the casino and sports betting industry. In addition, Steve is the columnist for SinBinVegas, a website dedicated to the Vegas Golden Knights and the NHL.
Carp covered the Golden Knights for the Las Vegas Review-Journal from 2015 to 2018. He had chronicled the team from its infancy through the 2018 Stanley Cup Final in its inaugural season.
A six-time Nevada Sportswriter of the Year, the Brooklyn, New York native came to Las Vegas in August 1988. He first worked at the Las Vegas Sun, then joining the Review-Journal in 1999, Among the events Steve has covered were UNLV's national basketball championship run in 1990 and return to the Final Four in 1991, the career of tennis Hall of Famer Andre Agassi, the 2007 NBA All-Star Game and the first 12 years of the NBA Summer League. In addition, he has covered the boxing careers of world champions Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Glolovkin, Shawn Porter, Jessie Vargas, Ishe Smith and other fighters along with college and professional football, soccer, baseball, tennis and golf.
He has also chronicled the stories of the majority of members of the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, starting with David Humm back in 1997.
Carp has won numerous writing awards from the Nevada Press Association, Sigma Delta Chi, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Press Sports Editors. His work has also appeared in national publications, including Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News, Basketball Times, The Hockey News and Street & Smith's.
He is the author of two books - "Vegas Born - The remarkable story of the Golden Knights" and "Runnin" - UNLV Rebels - A Basketball Legacy." He is a past president of the United States Basketball Writers association and a 2017 USBWA Hall of Fame inductee.
A graduate of San Jose State University with a B.A. in Journalism, Carp lives in the Las Vegas suburb of Summerlin.
